BOC Veterans Training Update

The BOC Veterans Pilot at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, IL finished with a media blitz that included two local TV news stations airing segments about the pilot. The TV segments include an interview with Michael Wright, one of the veterans that earned the certification. A few dozen news websites posted stories about the BOC Pilot including Energy Manager Today, Glen Ellyn and Elmhurst sites and Marketwatch.

Out of the four veterans enrolled in the Springfield series three of them successfully earned the BOC certification thereby strengthening their skills for a career in the O&M field. All sixteen of the incumbent students enrolled in the series earned the certification. The estimated net energy savings from the employed BOC graduates is 2,896 MWh and 8,912 therms according to an evaluation of the BOC program conducted by Navigant Consulting.

The next Veterans Pilot in Glen Ellyn, IL will begin with an orientation session on January 30bringing together veterans, mentors and program partners to ensure a successful series start.  Veterans are submitting applications to our workforce partner, the DuPage County workNet Center.  Wheaton College and County of DuPage have also confirmed their participation as mentors for the veterans.  Please feel free to share Pilot information with veterans, mentors and potential employment partners.
