MEEA Office LEED Gold Certification Achieved

The Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (MEEA) is proud to announce we have been awarded a LEED Gold level, US Green Building Council, green building certification of our space! The build out of our year-old, 6,600 sq. ft. office space in the 1928 historic, Civic Opera Office Building was designed to limit our overall energy consumption while creating an inviting and healthy place for our employees and guests. We thank the help of our many member donors, the  former and current building owners Tishman Speyer and Berkley Properties, and our design and construction team-architects Eastlake Studio and general contractor REED Construction, to achieve this high plateau of certification.

By careful selection of equipment and products, MEEA revitalized our space to feature many energy efficient features including: high efficient LED and fluorescent lighting fixtures to reduce energy use, daylight and occupancy sensors to control lighting levels, and EPA ENERGY STAR labeled equipment and appliances to reduce our overall plug loads.

The LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System™ is a voluntary, consensus-based standard to support and certify successful green building design, construction and operations. LEED is transforming the marketplace by providing a nationally recognized certification system to promote integrated, whole-building design practices in the building industry.
