MEEA K-12 Fundraising Program Lights for Learning Launches New Direct Install Program

MEEA is excited to announce the Lights for Learning Direct Install Program made possible through support from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) Illinois Energy Office.  The Direct Install Program is being offered to Illinois public schools participating in the Lights for Learning Fundraiser Program that are located in Ameren, ComEd, Nicor Gas, Peoples Gas, or North Shore Gas service territories.

Lights for Learning educates K-12 students in energy efficiency by combining education, fundraising, and community involvement.  Through the new Lights for Learning Direct Install Program qualified public schools will receive FREE energy efficiency products. Installing these simple energy saving measures can result in increased comfort, substantial environmental benefits and savings on school utility bills, reducing operating costs.

The Direct Install Program begins with a walk-through by MEEA representatives and the school maintenance professional or another appropriate contact to determine which energy saving measures should be installed.   MEEA will then develop a comprehensive report identifying measures available for immediate installation in addition to information on other statewide incentives for deeper retrofit work.  MEEA will ensure approved Direct Install measures are delivered directly to schools for installation and will verify proper installation through an inspection or approved school reporting.

FREE Energy-saving measures include:

•          LED exit signs

•          Smart strips

•          Low-flow aerators

•          Low-flow showerheads

•          Kitchen pre-rinse green nozzles

•          CFLs

•          Vending machine controls

•          The Modlet

If you are interested in receiving these free energy saving measures or have any questions, please contact Chelsea Lamar: 312.374.0924 or clamar@mwalliance.org.
